Global warming and the SEO championship is a project we have worked off and on for the last three months. Through forums and blogs, we have explored and developed the topic by editing our wordpress entry in the global warming seo championship. To save the earth was not our goal but only to submit an entry that developed the topic of global warming in a manner that Google and others saw as most relevant developed topic about climate change and global warming. In the beginning, the set of topics that we developed for the contest in wordpress about global warming and the planet was centered on global warming but gradually focused more on the seo championship and not global warming. Topics found in Google about how to save the earth, climate change, stop pollution, and global warming were used in a seo championship project that developed into a global warming of seo contests in the blogosphere.

Over the past couple of weeks, we have edited our wordpress blog to increase our relevance from saving the earth towards more of a focus on the seo championship because it is hard to tell how search engines will cluster your blog into selected categories. We have submitted our blog under the “save earth” theme and gained some positioning but saw that it was not being clustered right for MSN. We then began our development efforts more towards global warming related keywords in order to try to position our wordpress blog towards the right categories. Since the stop pollution direction wasn’t producing the results we were looking for we had to make adjustments and developed additional post based on that assumption.

We did notice that the planet earth related blogs were seeing better results in MSN than that of other blogs so we wanted to make sure that our development did not isolate us to any specific cluster or theme which was tricky. We began by making adjustments in our Wordpress Control Panel including the descriptions and other relevant tags. Ultimately we decided that we had one last chance for a post and decided to avoid the plant tree or carbon monoxide related categories and try to focus our efforts toward the categories that were more persuasive in the overall main category for globalwarming awareness2007 such as “global warming” and “seo championship”. This left us little room for optimization for keywords such as “carbon monoxide”, “photo sharing”, “planet earth”, and such related phrases.

Even with all that taken into consideration we don’t know if the MSN search engine will index our new post in time to make a difference or if our wordpress blog is already too far down the search engine results pages or SERPs to make a real difference. Only time will tell.
